Kari's Senior Session

There have been quite a few photo sessions with the Wathen girls as well as hair styles for high school dances and more. Beyond that I've been able to know their family through being Lorin (Kari's younger sisters) youth leader. I am glad to know this family and glad to document another moment in their journey. Kari is graduating college very soon and has an exciting journey ahead. Who knows where life will take her after being in her early twenties, living near the beach and finishing this chapter of school but I know there's a great story ahead.
Congratulations Kari, you are almost there!

Justine & Ryan (soon to be Hayes).

Justine and Ryan are getting married on Saturday! I've know Justine since High School and more so college years at Eastside. It was an honor to meet her fiance and share in the excitement as they prepare for this weekend. They are both missionaries in Kenya and I am proud of the journey they are on together. We spent some time together to talk about the weekend and snap a few photos of them before they get all snazzy on Saturday! It's a delight to watch people interact, work out the awkwardness of taking photos and enjoy each other.

Justine + Ryan / April 21st, 2012.

Lafosse twins!

Last weekend I captured these cute little ones again. We did Christmas photos in December and did another round this month for their birthday. We went to a great lemon grove park for this session.

Mr. and Mrs. Anderson (almost).

I am so excited for two more valuable friends to start (officially) their lives together. Much congratulations are in order for Jordynn & Evan. They have been dating for what seems like forever, they compliment each other so well, they have worked through challenges and hard times and they have come out all the better. I don't think I've ever heard them talk bad to each other and it's a treat to see how they serve each other. I am so excited to share in their wedding day but more so their lives together.

They haven't mailed their Save The Dates yet, but I think it's safe to say they won't choose this one.. But I love it because it's so them. Evan has some crazy ideas and Jordynn didn't think twice before she was ready and agreed to catch him for the photo. I mean, you just have to love them.

Winter is fleeting.

I am not sure winter really existed this year. You've probably heard me complain about this. And you would probably say, "Phylicia, you live in So Cal, it's always sunny and warm." But... I don't agree. I think it's been extra sunny, warm and dry this year. You wait, it'll be a wet spring (I say this really wishing but doubting).

But on the positive side, I guess I can just soak up all of the moments of winter we've had. I've only made 2 trips to the mountains this winter. Both were decisions based on the fact it was actually going to snow. I am grateful for both trips to the cold even though during one I took a fall, hurt my ankle and gained a puffy face and got stuck in the worst bad mountain driver traffic. It was still time spent in the snow. Ok, you know I love it.

Ps. I am grateful for someone who loves the adventure of snow and mountains as much.. actually more. Thanks Charles!
pss. This is the beginning of my once again effort to blog more.
So, if you enjoy photos of life, random words and things that stand out to me.. feel free to read on.

The Hasbroucks!

It's super fun to photograph great friends. A few weeks ago I took a break in my day to help Debbie and her fun family to update their family photos. The lighting was lovely, they were super fun and I got to see Debbie for a few minutes (I'll take what I can get).
